I want one of these soooo badly! If the Gods of Random Generator doesn't pick my number, I just might have to beg Santa for one!

p.s. Grosgrain has amazing tutorials on her blog. Look around and give her some comment love :)

FINALLY!!! Some Baby Shower pics

This is the cute mama and her sister.  The theme was Jungle babies with pink and green colors. It was also a pool party-which was a blessing because it was incredibly hot that day.

These are the decorations I made.
 I made tissue paper poms
I painted those little masks.  That was a chore!  I haven't painted since I did paint-by-numbers as a child.
The little white flowers were made of napkins, tissue paper, rubber bands, and bendy straws. I placed the masks and flowers in baby bottles, though you can't really tell.

The little wooden animals we bought at Micheals.  I glued clothes pins to them so we could clip them to the fence.  I sewed up strands of paper leaves into a garland.  It's hard to see but I strung those on the fence too.

If you look close, you can see cute little animal picks in the food.  I found those in the clearance isle in Michaels.  Oh how I love clearance!

Taking 5 mins

In an effort to make my life as organized as I can make it, I have been using a new technique.  Every night I use 5 mins to complete one small task. At this point, 5 mins is all I want to spare.  When work slows down it may become 15mins.
I focus on one particular item each night.  Last night was sorting mail (and the monstrous piles of junk that comes with it).  Tonight I will do a load of laundry.

I have a tendency to become overwhelmed by my to-do list.  It gets to the point that I become frozen.  I sleep in, I shop, I do anything to avoid my ever-growing list.  My new 5 min routine is helping the procrastinator in me.  I have come to accept that it may take me a month to get my list widdled down but that is OK for me.  I can relax a little better before bed knowing I tackled one little chore.

I know those with children have it much harder than I.   I am blow away that you all seem to do it with such ease!  Any tips?

Riding the crazy train

I don't know what the hell is wrong with me lately.
Kevin and I took an amazing vacation to Naples a few weeks ago and since I've been back I feel like I'm loosing my mind.
I can't make any decisions.
I am unmotivated to do anything.
I am busy at both jobs and I'm ready to run away from it all.

I guess vacation was too good.  Reality is beating the crap out of me right now.

On a happier note, I have decided that once a month I will have mini-vacations at home.  I have scheduled out one week a month that I will only work.
No house work.  No extra projects for family and friends.
No extra hair appointments to do.
A week of what I want to do - nothing else.
I am sticking to it.  Only an emergency will pull me away from my selfish-bringmebacktosanity-mini-cation.
(Kevin & I in Naples, Fl 7/24/10)

My week is coming up soon and I cannot wait!

What have you done for yourself lately?
